About the Tech Talk
Design and Build a Better World with AI
According to the United Nations, "The current world population of 7.6 billion is expected to reach 8.6 billion in 2030, 9.8 billion in 2050, and 11.2 billion in 2100." That means that every two seconds, five new children who need houses, cars, offices, universities, hospitals, roads, bridges, phones, and many more things are born. This growth rate in the population means that in the future, we need to build 100 cities like San Francisco every year!
In addition to the increase in the population, climate change has brought a number of new challenges to our lives. We have more natural disasters—wildfires, hurricanes, earthquakes, tornados—than ever before, increasing the urgency to rebuild city infrastructures in such short times.
We do not have enough materials and resources to overcome the challenges ahead of us. While baby boomers are retiring from the architecture, engineering, and construction industry, younger generations are not choosing to enter this field.
The solution? Among all emerging technologies, AI has an enormous potential to help us design and build future offices, homes, hospitals, roads, and bridges in a more sustainable way. During this talk, you will learn how AI could potentially solve some of the demanding problems ahead of us.
