After the disruption of in-person events in 2021 because of the Covid-19 pandemic, conference organizers are hoping to get their operations back to normal in 2022, but most conferences are including an online component, too. A virtual component can broaden an event's audience and act as a hedge during uncertain times.
Still, there's no substitute for attending a conference in-person. The fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, and related domains are constantly developing. SIGIR 2022 is the annual conference of the Association for Computing Machinery Special Interest Group in Information Retrieval. For the first time in the history of the conference, it will be run in a hybrid mode, with speakers and attendees having the option to participate onsite or online.
