Scale Zeitgeist: AI Readiness Report

Sri Viswanath is a General Partner at Coatue, where he leads AI and enterprise investments in private companies. Prior to joining Coatue, Sri served as Atlassian’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), where he oversaw Atlassian's cloud-native journey – assuming responsibility over the building and scaling Atlassian's cloud platform. Before joining Atlassian, Sri was the CTO and SVP of Engineering at Groupon, the VP of R&D for mobile computing at VMware, and SVP of Engineering at Ning – where he was instrumental in the company's acquisition by Glam. He also led development of several successful open-source and B2B products at Sun Microsystems, served on the Board of Directors for SendGrid, and has a number of patents. Sri currently serves on the Board for Stability AI, Jasper, Gantry, Fireblocks, and others. He holds a M.S. in Management from Stanford University and a M.S. in Computer Science from Clemson University.

Benny Du is currently a Senior Manager within Accenture Technology’s Cloud First Unit – focusing on Data & AI via Accenture’s newly-formed Generative AI/LLM Center of Excellence, and has had a strong track record of scaling business groups and offerings in the cloud, security, and enterprise data management spaces via strategic ecosystem partners.

Benny started his career as a management consultant with IBM Global Business Services, servicing primarily U.S. Navy clients. After business school, Benny transitioned first to fintech (via a stint at MasterCard Labs), and then eventually to enterprise IT as a whole, when he served as a sales leader for a boutique, North Bay-based value-added reseller (VAR), working with CIOs on a daily basis to modernize their data centers and IT infrastructure.

Being in the Bay Area, Benny then joined an Andreessen Horowitz-backed startup that focused on the gig economy and the future of work – helping it build up a robust partner ecosystem – before getting back to the corporate world at Informatica and maturing its customer success program for Fortune 500 clients.

Benny holds a Bachelor’s degree in international economics and political science from UCLA; and MBA from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. Originally from Taiwan, Benny currently resides in Redwood Shores with his family.

Vijay Karunamurthy is currently Field CTO at Scale AI, where he is enabling Scale's mission to democratize AI to help business, governments and organizations see its full potential. Previously he was a Director of Engineering at Apple, where he worked on scalability, personalization and ML research for the App Store, TV+, Apple Watch and more. Prior to Apple, Vijay led Search and Discovery engineering teams at YouTube, and cofounded (with Steve Chen and Chad Hurley) startups focused on live video and content discovery (acquired by Apple and BlueJeans Network.)

Bihan is currently a Product Manager at Scale AI on the Generative AI team. Previously, she was a product engineer on Scale AI’s Nucleus team, which helps ML teams build better models with better data. She received her Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Stanford University with concentrations in systems and artificial intelligence.

Fernando Amat is currently Staff Machine Learning Research Engineer at Scale AI, where he leads the Content Understanding ML team in order to enrich, analyze, and categorize any type of media entertainment content. Previously, he was a tech lead and Senior Machine Learning Research Engineer at Netflix, where he worked on recommender systems, multi-arm bandits and content understanding at scale to find the best ways to surface Netflix's catalogue to users. Prior to Netflix, Fernando was a Staff Researcher at Howard Hughes Medical Institute, applying computer vision and other ML techniques to biomedical applications. His work has appeared in top tier publications across different fields, such as Nature, Cell and NeurIPS.
